Everything after that is a fair attempt to show you who else is doing good work here, so you can pick the right person for your business, even if that person is not me.
Chennai has a lot of digital marketing freelancers now. Some are SEO specialists with 15 years behind them. Some are creators who understand Instagram better than any agency. Some are generalists who will handle your website, your Google listing and your ads together. The right one depends on what is actually broken in your business right now, and I’ll help you figure that out at the end of this post.

1. Tanishka Bhatera
That’s me. I’m based in Anna Nagar and I work with small and local businesses across Chennai: cafés, clinics, salons, boutiques, professional services. I do SEO, Google Business Profile optimisation, social media, website design, and Google and Meta ads. What is different about working with me is simple: you talk to me, not a team. If I had to name the SEO specialist on this list, it is Karthikeyan. His published profile says more than 15 years in search marketing, with work across real estate, e-commerce, B2B and healthcare, and he has trained over 3,000 people in digital marketing. He also talks about the newer stuff, AEO and GEO, which is how your business shows up inside AI answers, not just Google’s ten blue links.
Good fit: a business fighting for a competitive keyword, or an e-commerce site that needs proper technical SEO. If your problem is “we have a website and nobody finds it”, this is the kind of experience you want.
3. Sorav Jain
Sorav Jain is probably the best-known digital marketing name in Chennai. He founded the agency echoVME and the training institute Digital Scholar, and he has a large following of his own. Technically he is not a freelancer any more, he runs companies, but he is on every list like this because people search for him, and because his content is a genuinely useful education if you are new to digital marketing.
Good fit: a brand that wants an established agency with a recognisable name behind it, and has the budget for that.
4. Rishi Jain
Rishi Jain is the co-founder of Digital Scholar alongside Sorav, and a lot of the digital marketing freelancers in Chennai today learned there. He is known for the business side of marketing: funnels, lead generation, and turning attention into revenue rather than just followers.
Good fit: a business that already has traffic and wants to convert more of it, or a founder who wants to learn the system rather than outsource it.
5. LifestyleWithMallika
This is a creator-led name, and I included it on purpose. A lot of customers now find businesses through reels and stories before they ever search on Google. A creator who knows how to make content people actually stop for is a different skill from SEO, and for some brands it matters more.
Good fit: lifestyle, fashion, beauty, food and wellness brands where the product has to be seen to be wanted.
6. Madhumitha
An independent digital marketer working directly with businesses rather than through an agency. If you prefer a one-to-one working relationship where the person you brief is the person doing the work, this is the kind of freelancer to shortlist. Ask to see two or three recent examples and what changed for those clients.
7. Cladkraftkrypton
A small independent digital marketing and online-growth setup. Worth a look if you want flexibility, for example hiring for just Google Ads or just social media for a few months, without an agency retainer. As with anyone on this list, ask for a written scope and who exactly will be doing the work.
8. Aravind Subramanian
An independent marketer known among Chennai business owners for a practical, numbers-first approach. If you care about cost per lead and return on ad spend more than about likes, that is the conversation to have with him.
9. Digital Siddesh
A digital marketing freelancer with a strong social media and personal branding angle. Good if you are a founder, doctor, lawyer or coach who needs to build your own name online, not just a company page.
10. Yashi S
Yashi is a Chennai-based freelancer who, like me, writes about the local market and works with small businesses. If you are comparing a few people, comparing her approach with mine is a fair way to see the differences in how freelancers work.
How I picked these ten
Three things. First, they are actually in Chennai or work with Chennai businesses, not a national agency with a Chennai landing page. Second, there is something public I could point to: a profile, a track record, a body of content. Third, together they cover the different kinds of help a business might need: SEO, social, paid ads, creator content, training. I did not rank them by who is “best”. Nobody can rank that honestly. What digital marketing freelancers in Chennai charge
Roughly: ₹500 to ₹3,000 an hour, or ₹5,000 to ₹30,000 a month for ongoing work, depending on experience and what is included. SEO on its own usually starts around ₹10,000 a month. A one-time website is a separate project price. Anyone quoting far below that is either very new or planning to do very little. Six questions to ask before you hire anyone on this list
- Can I see two businesses like mine that you worked on, and what changed for them?
- Who will actually do the work, you or someone else?
- What will I see in the first 30 days, and what will I see in 90?
- Will I own my website, my Google Business Profile and my ad accounts?
- How often will you update me, and in what form?
- What happens if it is not working after three months?

Freelancer or agency?
A freelancer costs less, moves faster and you talk to the person doing the work. An agency has more hands, more tools and can run bigger campaigns in parallel. For most small and local businesses in Chennai, a freelancer is the right first step. You can always move to an agency later once you know what works. Going the other way, from an expensive agency retainer back to basics, is painful.

Final word
Do not hire from a list, including this one. Shortlist two or three people, talk to each of them for twenty minutes, and notice who asks about your customers versus who talks about themselves.
